Decent livelihoods for Musahar and Dom communities, Bihar

The socio-economic conditions of families from Musahar and Dom communities in the West Champaran district are to be improved. The aim is to create financial independence and security through agricultural activities and small-scale handicraft work in order to enable people to lead productive lives free from discrimination. The project trains the communities so that they can set up self-managed organizations and demand and implement their legitimate rights.

Families who were dependent on daily wages or at times even debt bondage can improve their financial security and nutritional situation through vegetable cultivation, improved goat farming and the production of bamboo products.

The parents will send their children to school and secure their livelihood with dignity. As a result, they gain respect and can integrate into mainstream society in the long term.
