Livelihood and food resources for the Maasai, Amboseli, Kenya

This initiative aims to show the people of this remote, semi-arid area how they can independently grow a more varied, healthy diet on a small scale for their families. Since the Maasai women always stay in their villages, even when their husbands migrate with some animals, this first awareness-raising step is a valuable step towards a healthier, more diverse self-sufficient diet, since these women live far away there and none locally have access to markets.

Petra Leisinger-Burns, founder of the association “Nashipai Kenya” – together with and for the Maasai”, travels to Kenya several times a year to see the Maasai. She lives with you and experiences your culture, with its difficult living conditions, up close. Projects such as collecting rainwater, family farming with native plants and also a project for reforestation are formed from these intensive, concrete and experienced experiences.
