The aim of the Sambol Foundation is to offer women and children in Sri Lanka who are affected by domestic and/or sexual violence a safe place and to provide them with everything they need for a self-determined life.
The Sambol Foundation has been taking in women and their children, regardless of their origin, in the shelter in Matara since 2019 and offers them accommodation, protection, the opportunity for education and training, therapeutic and legal support, as well as other services such as English courses and workshops that help the women and their children to help themselves and thus enable them to take a self-determined path into the future.
Due to the high demand and because the existing shelter is bursting at the seams, the first “Safe Village” in the whole of Asia is now being built to accommodate even more women and children.
