This project aims to focus on refugees and, in particular, refugee children in Freudenstadt and the surrounding area and to support and accompany them, especially during their arrival.
Outreach support services in the district’s shared accommodation facilities are intended to facilitate arrival, identify any additional support needs and, if necessary, refer people to existing services and support systems.
An art therapist and an artist, accompanied by a social education worker, lead these activities and visit the shelters on a weekly basis. This creates close contact with the participants, giving them a safe place where they can recover from the stressful life in shared accommodation and from their experiences in their home country and during their flight, and where they can find peace and quiet.
The children are seen, valued and supported, learn rules for handling different materials and train their fine motor skills and concentration independently of media consumption.
