Numerous children and young people in Myanmar eke out a living on the streets under extremely precarious conditions and have no access to public education and training facilities.<\/p>\n

As part of this project, a support center was set up for these disadvantaged and endangered children and young people, which offers them comprehensive support.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

SONNE-International has been running several day care and training centers in Yangon since 2008. Street children and marginalized young people are taught here and trained in a trade. The locations often had to be changed due to the short leases. Therefore, a permanent support center was set up in Yangon to give street children long-term access to a child-friendly environment in one place. The support center gives children and young people the opportunity to develop in an environment suitable for children and young people, to be well cared for and to take part in the education and training program.<\/p>\n

The Sch\u00f6ck-Familien-Stiftung co-financed the project.<\/p>\n

Since 2020, the Sch\u00f6ck-Familien-Stiftung has also been supporting tutoring in three day care centers for children from the slums of Yangon so that they do not fall behind in public schools.<\/p>\n

These classes are embedded in the day care centers, so the children also have access to hygiene, medical care and a sports program.<\/p>\n

The Burmese school system continues to suffer from the suppression of education during the military dictatorship. Teachers are often poorly trained and have to teach up to 50 children in a class. There are too few resources, and modern teaching methods are only slowly being introduced.<\/p>\n
