The Young Achievers Christian School is located less than an hour from Uganda’s capital, Kampala. It was founded by Praise Namisi in 2012 under the most difficult of circumstances. Praise had been an orphan herself. There was no school in the village near Campals. The original wooden shack was built by her and the first 20 orphans themselves.<\/p>\n

First, the Sch\u00f6ck-Familien-Stiftung financed a fence around the property to protect the school children. In the meantime, a 2-storey school building was built, as well as dormitories, dining rooms and sanitary facilities. Since 2020, the Sch\u00f6ck-Familien-Stiftung has had two buildings built for the teachers. So they can live there together with their families under better conditions. Several good teachers had left because they missed this.<\/p>\n

In the pre-school, which was completed in 2018, 110 children in three classes are being prepared for primary school. Toilets and a kitchen have been built separately.<\/p>\n

In 2018, the Sch\u00f6ck-Familien-Stiftung financed the purchase of farmland in order to enable those children at school to eat who can\u2019t get anything from home because their parents are too poor. Pupils and parents help to grow vegetables.<\/p>\n

Since 2018, Praise and her husband Moses have been looking after 392 children at the facility. Approximately 60 children are housed in the affiliated boarding school. The school, which is currently still largely financed by donations, should be self-sufficient in the long term, among other things through income from boarding school students whose parents can pay.<\/p>\n
